T954 Forum Foreword SEPTEMBER, 1953 VOLUME 34 JUNE, 1954 We have chosen newspaper as the theme of the 1954 Forum. We are using this theme because the book is dedicated to Miss Sara Cannon, our publi- cations' adviser. Several of our pages carry out our theme. We would like at this time to express our appre- ciation to the many people who have helped so much in getting our book together. Barbara McDermott, photo editor, started the year by setting a record of efficiency and speed in getting seniors to the photographers for the senior portraits. Mariorie Kerr, literary editor, has carried out the big iob of identifying all the class pictures and assemblying the information to go with the teachers' pictures. She, together with Barbara Scott, senior editor, found quotations to accompany all the seniors' pictures. Barbara also collected the information for the seniors' activity lists and edited that material. Keitha Porter, calendar editor, and her assistants, Dave Warren and Ann Robeson, have kept a day- by-day record of the happenings around the school. Keitha has made herself invaluable by typing and offering her services for many of the odd jobs. Kay Dennis and Joan Drake have done most of our art work, and Dave Misicka, sports editor, helped de- sign the sports pages. Elizabeth Gaines and Sue Tarr identified the music pictures. Monte Rutherford counted tax stamps and ran many errands. Business manager Dan Bastin has kept the finan- Page Two ces in order, and he has been helped in this big task by Sarah Eastman. Barbara Beroth and Sarah Eastman, subscription managers, managed the Forum show in addition to their regular work. Their assistants in taking care of subscriptions were Ann Titus, Jo Ann Ulery, and Jo Ann Jackson. The advertising staff, headed by Larry Epstein, collected the ads for the book. Assisting Larry were Nancy Stillson, Rachel Daly, Carolyn Barton, Don Reed, Monte Rutherford, and Mary Ann Hanes. lnformal pictures were taken by the staff photo- graphers, John Wareham, Bob Lipps, Dick Morain, Duke Wagoner, and Bill Martin. Duke and Bill have done much of our printing and enlarging. Three members of the iunior class who have helped us are Jim Hofmann, Mary Ann Rawlins, and Carolyn Frederick. There are many other members of both publications staffs who have proofread, typed, and identified pictures for us. We thank them, too. Recognition must be given to the professional photographers, Mr. James Israel, Mr. Guy Lipps, and Mr. Don Garverick, who took our formal pic- tures. We appreciate their cooperation and sup- port. By dedicating the Forum to Miss Cannon we have already shown our admiration for her as a teacher and our gratitude for her friendship. May we, though, say again how grateful we are for her guidance and advice.
