Senior Dave McLaughlin broke Mount Union’s record for rushing with a total of 2086 yds. At one point in the season he was leading the OAC in rushing. The Raiders changed their defense this year from a five man front to a four man front. The team finished with a 2-2 record in the Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division. We sincerely hope you have seen enough pictures of yourself because we tried to get everyone. According to Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary, yearbook means: ‘a school publication that is compiled usually by a graduating class and that serves as a record of the year’s activities.” We believe this to be an accurate definition of what the Unonian represents to the faculty and student body of Mount Union College. As in the past, our photographers were the best and they pulled with their finest abilities. We would like to thank Craig Eppler, Julie Floss, Dan Gorski, Jim Karmie and Andy Mudd for their fine talents and their ability to put up with two harassed co-editors. They advanced the technical capabilities of themselves and allowed us to save money by reorganizing the dark room and doing their own developing. Our staff was incredible this year and we would like to thank each one of them: Sharrie Bond, Judy Capps, Jim Eberhart, Mike Eberhart, Melanie Ferguson, Mel Foster, Lori Gallo, Annette Gasparik, Dawn Greenway, Joyce Jacobson, Shawn Jones, Ed Kolesar, Helen Lewis, Lisa Pahler, Patti Racine, Pam Rodgers, Deb Sartain, Laurie Swaldo, and Carol Tuttle. These people pulled a lot of long days to get this book out in time and we appreciated their help and dedication more than we were able to say. We would also like to thank Larry Snyder and Steve Schumaker, our business managers, for keeping us out of debt and controlling our expenditures when we got carried away. Our advisor, Dr. James Walton, was behind us the entire time and we were thankful for his support. Rick Mossing, our Josten’s representative, was always on our side and was willing to work with us to make this yearbook the special book that it is. We would also like to thank Dara Wegman for the artwork and poetry concerning Dave Lehman. Plajer and Cross also added their excellent work in the photography of this book. Liz Mason and Alan Aldinger of the Public Information Office also helped a lot with pictures and write-ups. Since September, there have been problems and we have needed the time away from each other to relax and unwind. For all of these trying times, we would like to thank all our friends who listened, calmed us down and put us back on the right track. “Along the Road,” words and music by Dan Fogelberg (Copyright 1979 Hickory Grove Music) was reproduced in the introductory section through copyright permission from Front Line Management Company, Inc. Thanks again for everyone’s support and dedication in the publication of the 1982 Unonian. We wish the best of luck to the editors and staff of the 1983 Unonian. Sincerely, 240 Yearbook Staff
