Dean of en 'Mount Union College is a community of scholars and learners in which cooperation and concern are dis- tinguishing characteristics. Responsible academic citizen- ship is required of all. We respect the dignity of each person, and each individual is expected to be a responsible and maturing member of the college communityf This statement from the Objectives of Mount Union College contributes to the total campus life. Hopefully, these ideas will prevail throughout all the college activities: the classroom, the residence halls, the athletic field, the fraternities, and the campus organizations. What better ob- jectives to live by during college and throughout the future! Dean of Women Roger VVillmott, the famous British author, once wrote 'Education is the apprenticeship of life'. As students enter college they begin the last phase of this formalized ap- prenticeship and therefore the finest educational resources should be made available to them. The college experi- ence is a learning experience. The wise student takes advantage of each and every opportunity for knowledge. Here hc can think freely, criticize constructively and disagree agreeably in his attempt to search for, and estab- lish his own values. It's our hope that your years at Mount Union will acquaint you with the excitement of discovering new ideas, of coming face to face with the thoughts of a great scholar, of becoming deeply involved in an atmos- phere in which individuals are free to live, to create and to prepare themselves for the master task of living. .fi .
