Messace eae EDITOR - William Troutman BUSINESS MANAGER - Jack Bale 1750 South Union, Alliance, Ohio 136 Hartshorn, Allien¢e, Ohio THE UNONIAN 1938 Year Book of Mount Union College ALLIANCE, OHIO June 1, 1938 Students of MoWnt Union College: A college yearbook is a collective diary in which are recorded the most vivid and most interesting happenings of the college year. A faithful rec- ord of college events will present the most colorful individuals and groups. It will devote fewer pages to academic pursuits and intellectual accomplish- ments than to campus life. To the reader unacquainted with college life the yearbook may seem to neglect books and to deal unduly with persons. But in college, because unfolding life itself is the overwhelming interest, persons become its subject matter. College students study persons as well as books, and the yearbook is the term paper of the major course, The value of a college yearbook increases from vear to year. Years after graduation, I hope, the possessors of the Unonian will prize it as an aid and a stimulus to memory. Your children will pore over it and grand- children will ask for explanations of obscure references to activities. In memory a visit will be paid to the campus; a smile will come to aging faces; but the questioner may still be left uncertain of the meaning. Happy that graduate who takes with his diploma the satisfaction of en- during interests, and consciousness of growing power, and withal a host of friendships. May the 1938 Unonian serve to recall to you in days-to-come happy, fruitful, years on the campus and in the classroom. With these thoughts in mind the staff presents the Unonian of nineteen hundred and thirty-eight. Editor
