' A ' ' 1' . ' ' - I fl Memoriam BISHOP THEODORE S. HENDERSON Born: May 14, 1868 Died: February II, 1929 Bishop Theodore S. Henderson was the students? friend. He was at home on this or any campus. It is estimated that he had interviewed in personal conversations on religion more than 2 5,000 students. Twenty-five years ago as head of the Commission on Evangelism he organized the college work whereby he and scores oi other evangelists visited the colleges annually and pressed upon the students the claims of Christ. He can be said to be the founder of our Religious Emphasis week conducted this year by the Reverend Ralph Emerson Davis. This present student body remembers Bishop Henderson as leader of our financial campaign in which the students and faculty subscribed about 360,000 to endow the Chair of Education in honor of our beloved Dean, Dr. J. B. Bowman. We remember how he attended the athletic games and gloried in the valor of our athletes. His last address to us was the College Night address, October 2 1. He was very human and knew the student heart. He was a great organizer, a high-powered salesman for Christ andhis work. It is well that a new Chair-the Chair of Christian Philosophy-is to bear forever the honored and inspiring name of Bishop Henderson. A 16 l

This is as it should be. This pleases their elders. Sir James Barrie addressed the students of Aberdeen on '4Courage and called youth to revolt the world over against their elders who had made such a mess of things as shown in the World War. Of course, much of their education has been looking back on the way the world has come to its present situation. They have found out how we got this way. Now into the hands of youth, the world is being committed and we, their teachers here at Mount Union College, have utmost confidence that they will improve the inheritance committed into their inexperi- enced, but not incompetent hands. Here's wishing every student named in this modernistic annual the best of success as he looks forward with a clear vision and moves forward with a brave heart to make the world over into a better and a happier spot.in which human beings are to be born and where they are to live out their divinely appointed destinies. Strike out bravely from the heart. Courage! Courage!! Courage! ! ! W. H. MCMASTER.
