CLASS HISTORY BY ANNA HOMOLASH In our book of memolies the date of September 8 1940 is the beginning of the careers of the plesent senior class in Mount Union High Sthool Class officers were elected in both our freshman and sophomore years but as we were the quiet studious type we took upon ourselves the ta k of pondering over the many subjects offered us This left our extra curricular activities in the dusk As far as the financial end was concerneed our treasury was not yet exen begun We then entered our Junior year which proved to be a highly successful one in all aCtlV1tl8S Through the cooperative help of our class members and terw capable officers and advisors we reached the peak of the year bv zooming over the top ID achieving the highest record of magazine subscrip ions during the past years In recognition of th1s good work every member of the class enjo ed an 1C6 cream party at Chrlstmas The class officers who encouraged us through the vear were none other than President William McGarvey Vice President Joseph Giacobello Secretary Anna Gerlock Treasurer Robert Longacre The last affair of the year that the Juniors sponsored was the annual Jumor Senior Prom held on April 30 1943 in the Gymnaslum of the Mount Union Grade School The gymnasium was decorated to represent a picture of a Hawaiian Island The enchanting music was provided by the Music Masters of our own community The evenmg was a gala occasion that will be cherished memories fOr years to come dollar award for selling the highest percentage of athletic tickets for the football season The following officers were elected President William McGarvey Vice President Walter Roll Secretarv Maxine Hutchison Treasurer Robert Lfongacre On January 25 1944 we held a Senior Dinner Dance at the Country Club This af fair proved to be a great success enjoyed by the faculty as well as the seniors On April 27 and 28 1944 the senior class play Ever Since Eve was presented Esery senior had some part in making this play a smash hit On Mav 19 1944 we solemnlx tread up the aisle of the Grade School Auditorium At last we were to be graduated We had looked forward to it for so long we now were even rather sad to be leaving We were especially sad because so many of our fellow classmates who had left to Join the armeed forces were to receive their d1plomas in absentla Thls made us conscious of the fact that we were graduating m the midst of war Ex en though we were leaving we knew that our energetic spirit and pep would st1ll remain In the hearts of all the members of the present graduating cl ss th re are mam warm deep lying memories of the happy days we spent with Don Jimmy and Ronald To know these three boys was a privllege, their kmdliness cheerfulne s and fun lovmg spirits won for them the friendship of all who came in contact w1th them Forty .
