The resident student council, one of the major organizations on campus, was formed this year to promote better and closer cooper- ation among resident students, it aims to develop a high degree of responsibility in self- government, to strengthen realtions between faculty and students, to provide a body of students authorized to express reliable and adequate opinions in matters of general col- lege interest, and to carry out the many obliga- tions of living on campus. The group supervises telephone duty, hall duty, social night, and helps in general to solve various problems which may arise. The council, made up ofa president and two representatives from each class, makes and enforces the rules with faculty approval. Through a monthly meeting with the entire resident group, it receives suggestions, reviews rules, and discusses and solves resident student problems.

.xgfl 90.511111 er Wa ria Ill The whole spirit and purpose of Catholic education is summed up in two words-student Sodalists. And that is exactly what one finds at Mt. St. Mary's-an association of student Sodalists intent on fulfilling the aims of their beloved Sodality. They realize that they are being trained to lead full apostolic lives, to provide the Church with outstanding Catholics, and to people the world with leaders who know and defend their faith. Every branch of learning at the Mount finds itself influenced in some way by the Sodality. In the fields of art, education, science, English, music-Sodalists are always present, permeating each task with their ardent love for the Blessed Mother. With this devotion deep- rooted in the student body, many proiects have been successfully completed -the European Relief Fund, Book Week, the making of altar linens, the distribution of Catholic literature throughout the student body, the spiritual exercises - all these and many more evidence the potential power of energetic Sodalists and point toward their future efforts to restore all things in Christ --through Mary.
