equuzsrat Zin Race On March 8 of this year Brother Simon dled at St Agnes Hospltal Brother Slmon was born in Big Cllfty Kentucky November 2 1884 He celebrated his Colden Anniversary as a Xaverlan Brother IH 1954 here at Mount St Joseph Gifted with a rare and fine talent Brother Simon spent his entire rellglous career as a teacher of music He taught in Deep River Conn Danvers Mass and at St Mary s Industrial School where he and h1s band became nationally famous After St Marys closed her doors 1n 1950 Brother Srmon became the band director here at the Mount The perfection he strove for 1n h1s own I'C11gl0llS life mspxred the perfection he demanded IH h1s teaching for music was more than an art to Brother Slmon It was a way of life a means of glorrfying God in a most especlal manner And It IS thrs unfailmg religious devotlon that he leaves as h1s most important legacy to us 1 P 7 7 9 ' ' - ' ' , -9 , -5 Louisville, Ky.
