The thoughtfulness of Lenoir Reimondo, Senior, is repre- sentative of the seriousness with which upperclassmen make their three day retreat. Realizing that for many it is a final one, they use this time to seek spiritual guidance for their future vocations and for the problems they are meeting in the world today. Aloneness is not loneliness. The silence of Retreat gives God a chance to speak, dis- covers Freshman Linda Everson as she reaches for her beanie preparatory to a trip to the chapel. Barbara Van Natten ponders over the Bible. For a few days, you lay aside your chores and are refreshed. A retreat is a spiritual withdrawal from the buzzing complexities of the world. It is a holy, happy time because you are silent and give God a chance to speak. Your retreat days are Filled with meditative hours and beautiful memories. Each morning you go to God through Mass and Holy Communion. Your closeness to Christ grows during the sta- tions and the daily rosary. The words of the retreatmaster leave much room for reflective thinking, the most important aspect of a worth- while retreat. You become good friends with joseph during these days. Like you, joseph worked consistently as the world demands, but in the company of Jesus and Mary, he always had time for fruitful spiritual rest. The time you take for retreat must be fruitful. You think of the quiet carpenter who guided the Child Jesus through His youth, and you suddenly know that you need him, too. You ask that St. Joseph's hand will remain, strong and directive, on your youthful shoulders. Now, refreshed, rejuvenated and resolved to stay that way, go back into the world! Freshmen Rosemarie Terranova, Paula Alaimo, Marianne Ballato, and Rosemary Palame find prayer and spiritual reading nourishing for the growth of young souls. They are in the alumnae room awaiting the arrival of their Retreatmaster, the Rev. John L. O'Toole, O.M.l. Girls profit from free time between con- ferences by getting acquainted with their favorite saints. Learning their virtues and courage is the Hrst step toward imitating them.
