zz e gefzexlaw' 171 us N M iM0lllAM lfor nearly half a century, Sister lfrancis Jerome has quietly enriched the spiritual and cultural background of the girls of this academy. In 1907 she began the instruction which has, to thousands of young women, made her name a byword for perfection in the graphic arts. Although her formal classes-among them religion and art- were terminated because of injuries suffered in a fall in 1953, Sister continued to contribute artistic touches to the decor of both the Convent and school, retaining until her death the full power of her gift. Fragrant and full-blown, like the roses which in late years adorned many of her paintings, Sister lfrancis jerome's span of years drew to ll close, February 27, 1957. It can truly be said that the perfection with which she inscribed a diploma, designed a tableau, or gilded a statue, were but brush strokes that crowned the more exquisite portrait of a life spent for God. Teachers of the fine arts meet near the motto which the late Sister Francis Jerome inscribed on the study hall board, Sister Juliana, seated, teaches piano, violin and directs the orchestra. Sister Marie Vianney, teacher of Art I and Art II, English I and Algebra, is co-moderator of the Sports Club, and Sister Laura is singing instructor and director of the Mt. St. Joseph Choral Club and the St. Cecilia Glee Club. m -1 C -s s - ' v .4
