They were: Lars Petersen, from Den- mark, who stayed with the Haff- nersg Juri Yamakita from Japan, who stayed with the Bartleysg Gladdis Pachero from Costa Rica, who stayed with the Browns, Kazumasa Yamasaki from Japan, who stayed with the Boyds, Lorena Guzman from EI Salvador, who stayed with the Kollenborns, and Jeanette Jenner from Australia, who lived with the Baker family. At Mount Si, some had trouble adjusting to the English Language, but found many rewarding com- pensations. Gliddis Pachero and Kazumasa Yamasaki were happy not to have to wear uniforms to school. Gladdis Pachero has made a lot of good friends. Kazumasa Yamasaki thinks that one year just isn't enough to understand English. Lars Petersen comments, The homework is basically the same. Some things never change. 1. Kaz Yamasaki thinks about Japan. 2. Juri Yamakita helps prepare for the AFS Bazaar. 3. Lorena Guzman and Gladdis Pacheco watch the entertainment. 4.
