GRANDPAQ A TRUE STORY His wrinkled hands grasped the sacred Bible from the top shelf, then sat down. He opened his soft leather bonded Bible. The Bible, torn with age, was opened several times daily. With a licked finger, he turned pages for his desired place . . . Psalms. Specticles fit snug over his short grey hair. As he read, the Bible have wisdom to the elderly man. He accepted this easily. His long, slender body relaxed in a high back rocking chair. The large window invited light to come into the small living room for his eysight. He laughed with his grandchildren a few hours earlier, but now just his relation- ship with his cat occured. Long hairs on the cat stroked against his shin. She purred to him, telling secrets from her heart. He picked her up, embracing her small head against his rosy cheek. A little textured tongue came out and kissed him. She loved the warmth and attention from her friend. The sun sank slowly behind a huge mountain. The sky dimmed the living room. The open Bible lay upon his lap. The fury cat curled up in between his leg and the arm of the chair. The stillness of the room was filled with peace and humbleness. The old man rocked his chair back and forth. It creaked with worn age. His head begins to bob backwards. The muscles in his neck are relaxed. Uncon- ciously, his lower jaw fell open, and he begins snoring. The once cherry man needed a rest now. -Tammy Tuttle- 1980 Student Creativity 135
