THIS YEARS Student Council proved successful in accomplishing several worthwhile projects, The oflicers elected for the year were Gary Grant. President: Bruno Picrini. VicefPresident3 june Iviatthevv. Secretary: Curtis Cleven. Business Manager: and 'losephine Zemp. Treasurer. Mr. Stewart advised the group. Une of the first projects of the year was the investigation of high school organizaf tions and cluhs for the purpose of eliminating inactive ones. All organizations reported satisfactory plans for the year so none was dropped. The first activity of the year was Homecoming. lt was celchrated with a honiire and pep rally. then climaxed with a victory over Vashon and a dance in the gym. Memhcrs of the Student Council took part in the successful Crusade for Freedom Campaign. Several memhers represented Ivlount Si in various conferences. Gary Grant attended the Governors Safety Council in Glympiag Bruno Pierini attended the Lakeside League Student Body Presidents' Meeting in Bellevuep Geraldine Nein. Gary Grant, and Don Tromhley traveled to the University of Vkfashington for the twofday Student Leaders' Conference. 10

Boh Reeves. lfred Lawrence. Stan Slierry. This organization was responsihle for setting up the ping-pong tahlc. purchasing games for students to use at noon. and keeping the Rumpus Room open. One of the main accomplishments of the year was thc cstahlishment of the Traflic Safety Council. The Student Council revised the constitution and set the trafhe group functioning, A special committee also worked on hringing thc A.S.B. Constitution up to date. A suggestion hox in the lower hall hrought forth many worthwhile ideas upon which this group acted. ln this and other ways. they strove to interpret the students' wishes in their governing. THE TRAFFIC COUNCIL is a new active organization for Mount Si. The group was late in organizing hut worked hard to inakc up for time lost. lt consisted of eleven meinhers. two chosen from each class and three from Student Council. Of these. Bruno Pierini was elected President. Sharon Cowles. Secretary. Mr. Beamer ahly advised the group. Through cofoperation from the Student Body. this can prove to he a worthwhile organization in the coming years. 11
