PARENTS AND FRIENDS CLUB The Parents and Friends Club is an organiza- tion dedicated to MSJ. It serves as a liason be- tween the school and the parents and does a great deal of fund raising. This year the PFC has pledged to contribute $75,000 to the school. The most apparent of all the PFC's activities is the weekly bingo, held every Wednesday night in the school gym. This fall, with a jackpot reach- ing nearly $3000, record numbers of people at- tended. The PFC also gave student organizations that worked at bingo half of the proceeds from the U-Pick-li games. Many clubs took advantage of this generous offer. In addition to sponsoring bingo, the club con- tributes to the general maintenance of the Mount. The PFC is responsible for the new boil- er that will be installed, the front doors, and the AV equipment. The Parents and Friends Club is certainly a vital part of MSJ. 54 ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION:- 1. Authors of the critically acclaimed best seller The Student Handbook. 2. WE LOOKED LIKE THAT!!?? 81 English Literature” It began in September when I purchased the book, I opened it up just to take a look. Things come in pairs such as ladies and bonnets, but in literature it is Shakespeare and his sonnets. The title left me with a slight suspicion 'twas England in Literature” the Macbeth edition. Folks liked their poetry but didn't know how to show it, so in the 17th century came the Metaphysical Poet. Without further ado we got down to action, with a few general facts about the Anglo-Saxon. At this stage of the text I was in total shock, for who in his right mind would rape a lock??” We read very smootly (without any major pains) the adventures of Beowulf and his loyal thanes. Despite my condition, I had to move on, to the next story in line Canto One of Don Juan. As soon as that was done we took off in a rage, to the following period the Medieval Age. That’s where we stand now and there’s more to cram, the thing that worries me is the final exam! The next work of literature to which we set our sails was constructed by Chaucer called The Canterbury 'Tails. My poem is done and brought to a boil, I think I should’ve tilled it Life with Mrs. Coyle”!!! Before we could pause to take a breath. -Chris Levins Class of 1984 we flipped the page to the tragedy of Macbeth SPORTS SPOR T I. A long narrative story written in elevated style relating the deeds of noble or semi-divine personages. 2. The result of numerous hours of dedication by the notorious yearbook editors. EDITOR: 1. One who enjoys spending countless hours cramped behind a desk in a small green closet while striving to perfect a book that will be remembered for years to come. 2. One who experiences heart palpitations at the mention of the work word deadline”. EDITORS’ MESSAGE It is difficult to write a message without repeating sentiments that other yearbook editors have expressed in previous years. Apparently they felt the same feelings we did as we worked throughout the year: anxiety and anticipation before the deadlines and satisfaction and relief after deadlines were met. We have worked hard to create a yearbook that we feel best exemplifies the spirit of MSJ. We hope that spirit will be evident now and twenty years from now. 1 7 Although many people have a part in the composition of a yearbook, often their time and effort go unrecognized. We would like to take this opportunity to thank some of these people, without whom the yearbook could not have been completed: Mr. Gary Bouchard, for his excellent photography. His patience with our time limits, close deadlines, and unusual requests was phenomenal. Mari Omland and Karen Perry, our student photogra- phers. They were always ready and willing when we need- ed them. The entire office staff for their patience with our seeming- ly endless paging requests. Mr. Mark Saks, our Jostens representative. He answered all of our many questions and eased our apprehensions. Mr. Mark Zajan, our unofficial copy editor. The Rutland Herald and The Rutland Weekly Observer, for their generosity with their pictures. Finally, Mr. Michael Dwyer and Mr. John Sanborn, our advisors. Mr. Dwyer guided and assisted the editorial board throughout the year while Mr. Sanborn handled the financial aspects of the book. To these and the many others who in some way assisted us in the completion of this yearbook, we would like to express our sincere thanks.
