W.D.C. 4 THE NIGHT BEFORE GRADUATION Twas the night before graduation and all through the school not a senior was stirring not even the class fool. With a middle age man who ncr'd did da I Icy I knew in a flash it was Father La Valley He was dressed all in black from his head to his foot and his clothes were all covered with dog hair and soot The diplomas were sitting in the office with care in hopes Bishop Marshall soon would be there. The seniors were nestled all snug in their beds while visions of partying danced in their beads More rapid then mounties his courses they came and he laughed and shouted and called them by name To the top of quatcrlinc to Berger King wall now dash away dash away dash away all The bundle of diplomas he had hung on his back and he looked like a peddler just opening his pack A wink of his eye and a twist of his head soon gave me to know I haa nothing to dread When all of a sudden there rose such a clatter I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter So up to the college tops the courses they flew with a car full of seniors and Father LaValley too He spoke not a word but went straight to his work and filled all the blanks then turned with a jerk When what to my sleepy eyes should appear but many rowdic seniors and a keg of b And then in a twinkling I heard in the hall the laughing and crying of each little call He sprang to his Mercedes to his senior gave a whistle and away they all went like a nuclear misslc
