True and meaningful friendships have developed through the years and have given us a strong awareness of other people's feelings. S. J. has taught us many things, but most of -all we have learned how to be ourselves. The M. S. J. Community has given us a foundation on which our futures will be built. Now, taking all the knowledge that our teachers have imparted to us, we go out into the world to be the best that we possibly can be. Our road in life may be marked by some failures, but our only real failure is to quit. In closing, we would like to wish the Senior Class of 1979 the best of everything as they travel the road of life. Best Wishes YEARBOOK: EDITORIAL BOARD Row I: B. Gilligan, K. O'Connor, K. Many thought the Acads would finish at 5-4 or worse because of their lack of size, but with speed, pride, desire, a tough defense, and expert teaching from the coaches, Cioffi and Zingali, they ended the year tied for first in the SVL, but because of a loss to Brattleboro, they forfeited a chance of going to the States. The capping to the Mountie season came when they handed the heavily favored Raiders a 20-15 loss, destroying their chances of going to the State Championship Game. 59 M.S.Jw OPP. rn i Rice op up South Glens Falls □p pyi St. John's °p Fair Haven cp ®p Erattlefcoro Ep tup Mt. St. Joseph Academy is founded upon the principle that students share a sense of community when work- ing and cooperating together in dramatic activities. This year's production of the community musical The King and I involved close to two hundred individuals from the Rutland area. The three-and-a-half hour production for four evenings was enjoyed by over two thousand people. The impressive number of friendships among Rutland High ana Mt. St. Josepn students, as well as with many adults, was indicative of the real success of the show. The Mt. St. Joseph entrant in the State One-Act Play Competition was Waiting for Lefty, an ensemble play in the Mt. St. Joseph tradition of presenting plays involving large numbers of students. Mt. St. Joseph has won the State One-Act Play Championship and entered the New England One-Act Play Festival as Vermont's entrant for three of the last four years. The directors of the drama activities at Mt. St. Joseph, Martha and David Wolk, applauded the efforts of many people without whom drama would not be possible. The Wolks cited choreographer Lorraine Gilbert, musical director flare Saint-Germain, technical directors Geoff and Chris Hebert, producer Margie Canary, and stage manager Sande Ley, among many others, as largely responsible for the success of the annual Mt. St. Joseph Community Musical. 80 M.S.J. MUSICALS 1 'Maine The King And I 'Hello Dolly M.S.J. STATE-ONE-ACTS HELLO OUT THERE MSJ STATE ONE-ACT PLAY - 1979.
