From organizing buses to helping with the musical, you're always there, giving unselfishly of your time. We thank you for all that you have done for the M.S.J. community throughout the years and for our class. MOUNT SAINT JOSEPH ACADEMY RUTLAND - VERMONT 05701 To the Class of 1977 Being a part of your lives for the last four years has been for me a real privilege and joy. Thank you for being a part of the Mount. The Mount is a better place because you came our way. Also remember that the Mount will always be a part of you and our spirit will be with you wherever you go. My final wish for you is best spoken by St. Paul to the Phillippians. You have a permanent place in my heart, and God knows how much I miss you all, loving you as Christ Jesus loves you. My prayer is that your love for each other may increase more and more and never stop improving your knowledge and deepening your preception so that you can always recognize what is best. This will help you to become pure and blameless, and prepare you for the Day of Christ, when you will reach the perfect goodness which Jesus Christ produces in us for the glory and praise of God. 7 sruJLA : A.V t f t fk '. k ' - A 0 4f _ i4x A aAV 0S£ S §. ,« 1 4 %J t_ 8 |v 02 %4, 3 ;p)c ., .„. Some people describe this team as awesome but there is really no word to describe this complete unit. Every aspect of the team was close to perfection. There is no doubt that there were outstanding individual players in each game but all in all it was a team effort. The offensive line was superior to all opponents, opening holes a truck could drive through, or Russel could mn through. The offensive line made the run- ning task of the backs all that much easier. This isn't taking anything away from the running backs because they were all excellent runners. Both quarterbacks were fine performers and the receivers made them look even better. It was a very well rounded team and the best this state of Vermont has ever seen. During the undefeated season of 10-0 the Mounties scored an impressive 424 points and only gave up 80 points to the opposing teams. This says a lot for a defense that was overshadowed by such a great offense all year long. The old saying goes, A good offense is a good defense. The Mounties' defense scored during the season and continually supplied the offense with the ball and good field position. The defense was un- derestimated all year and proved in the end that the MSJ football team had a great offense and a great defense. The season was made complete on Nov. 13th when MSJ defeated South Burlington 50-7 in the state championship game of 1976. The Mounties arc State Champions, which is a well deserved award and yet it seems a little inadequate in rewarding the players for such great accomplishments. Mike Muscatello 66 J. Through hard work and determination the team proved to be a formidable foe for all opposition. The Mounties displayed a strong competitive spirit and excellent sportsmanship in compiling a fine 16-6 record. The team was led by the experienced play of a fine group of seniors. John Culver, Jim Shortle, Pete Notte, Tom DiPalma, Tom Cassese, and co-captains Bobby Joe Cioffi and John Ruggiero, all contributed in making the Moun- tie Basketball team one of the most respected in the state. 71 MSSHMSN KASK8ZKACC ROW I: G. This year's team has been considered one of the finest teams produced. This year's team finished the season with a nine and five record. With a nucleus of returning letter men, Bill Eaton's Mounties hope to be playoff bound. The majority of re- turning players are seniors; this could be the year. M. S. J. sported a 6-8 record last year with wins over powerful Glens Falls, New York (22-2), Brattleboro High, Mt. Anthony Union and other top contenders in the SVL. If the M. S. J. Mounties show as much desire to win as they have proved in Football and Basketball in the past year-then the Mounties could be on their way. 75 GJKJCS zsms zsam FRONT: L. Hincks, S. Lee, M.
