TO THE CLASS OF 1966: Never before lias so great a challenge awaited you as you go forth to take your place in the world. You are being challenged to make your mark on society and to enrich your own lives in the process. And never before have the opportunities been so numerous to meet this challenge. Daily advances in science, new exploration of the arts, and an ever increasing effort to bring these findings to the threshold of those determined educate themselves formally or informally—all exemplify the opportunities Siting for those who would seek them. They reveal a vast arena where challenge meets opportunity and where opportunity gives birth to further challenge. Each of you has something distinctive to offer to the world.
