Prophecy For Pete ' s pity ! I yelled. I thought old Constantine had forgotten about me . But there it was, al I down in black and white . You are cordially invited to attend The Inaugural Bal I Honoring the 47th President of the United States (None other them Archie Vanhoy) I rushed madly to my little husband and told him the magic news. Honey, guess what? Archie invited me to the Inaugural Ball; I ' m going to Washington! Before I knew it, the white dome of the city greeted my eyes, and I was a part of the thousands of people looking into the compassionate eyes of our next President. I plopped my bifocals info position and scanned the row of hotshots behind the«very distinguished Pr e s i d e n t -elect . Let ' s see, where is he? Oh, there ' s Lipe Barrier, Jr., the new Veep, and Alvin York, the Ambassador to France . I heard he ' s making out with those French dolls (the kind that doesn ' t break, that is!). And there ' s Merle Sollinger, Old Faithful . I remember when he took over Taft ' s position. Oh, I see JoeMills, Secretary of Defense. There ' s Elizabeth Herion beside him; she ' s the new Secretary of the Treasury . It ' s a shame that she had to give up her brilliant golf career because of that tragic accident. She had the tournament in the bag when she slipped and fell in the eighteenth hole while making her final putt. Oh, there ' s Jane Culp. She ' s the new secretary to the assistant to the assistant to the secretary of the under-secretary of Lower Slobovia . There are Joyce and Harold Moser, the new Toni Twins. Hello, I said. I ' ve been hearing so much about you two lately. By the way, which of you has the Toni? Oh, Harold, definitely, piped Joyce. Here, you can see for yourself, as they handed me their hair. From these two I made my way to the punch bowl . I craned my neck and whom should I see but Paula and Sue Foil . Believe it or not, I found that these two are heads of the world ' s biggest chlorophyll chewing gum plant. Their slogan is More chubs to the chew with Chickles. I turned to get my drink, and whom should I see but Joyce Sides. She told me that she and Troy Talley are playing on Broadway in A Kittycart Named Desire. People are saying their success is due to their topnofeh agent, Mary Ann Fisher, who takes only a modest 90% of their earnings. Oh, there ' s Evelyn Ballard, Rachel Honeycutt, Sue Linker, and Maye Eury . Gee, seems that everybody ' s getting the middle-age spread. Well, what are you four doing now? You ' re all looking. . .healthy. Modeling corsets, eh? Well, I ' m. sure you all fit in just fine . Glenn Rimer is directing the band! they yell-ed as they clobbered out of sight. Try to see him. I overheard that Bob Burris and Buddy Fisher have retired from pro fottball. Well, I guess they ' ve gone home to t h e i r chicken farms . Oh, guess what! Evelyn Keziah and Jean Doby ' s ballet troupe has been touring the continent for three years. But the top drawing cards are their p a r t n e r s , Clyde Drye and Max Cruse, in their version of the world famed ballet, Moby Dick. Getting back to football, Jim Brooks has just been made head coach at UNC, and he ' s taking Ray Cauble and Allan Moose as his assistants . Oh, I know you ' ll be glad to hear this. The four most famous Conover models are here: Alice Bost, Shirley Auten, Dianne Mullis, and Jane Stallings. They ' ve been modeling grass skirts for Jerry Hammill ' s T. V. program. You know Jerry took over Authur Godfrey ' s show when old Carrot-top kicked the bucket. Jerry always has such educational programs . There ' s Frances Eudy over there. She ' s taken over Louella Parson ' s column, so if you want more gossip just say Hey to her and she ' ll give you the juicy tidbits. By the wuy, Fletcher Vickers is going ro warble a few tunes, but he sounds horrible with false teeth. Well, did you know Margaret Ann Rinehardt has formed an old maids ' club? Yes, she finally gave up at last. And here ' s some juicy news: Wayne Miller is President of Queens College and he ' s still a bachelor. Audrey Walker, Edith Boger, and Nancy Smith are embalmers at a funeral home. They always did love to work with people. And talking about people, ! read the other day that W i I s o n Baucom, Wayne F u r r and Diqkey Mil Is are model ing for Physique Magazine! By the way, did you know that Havis McDonald ' s hair has changed color? He couldn ' t bear having it the same color all of the time, so he started using Tintair. That didn ' t work, so now he ' s mixing house paints. He looks terrible with shartreuse hair . Eddie Shoe and Robert Isenhour are getting in the higher income brackets with their Air-Wick Fac iry. Jerry Tucker was crowned National Champion Flagpole Sitter just last week. He always was good at sitting on the job. Dear Reader, it all sounds screwy, doesn ' t it? Well, it is!
