What a noise! Oh! yes, now I know what it is. Miss Graham is teaching typing to the sophomores while Mr. Batiste teaches sec- retarial practice and shorthand. He also helps with typing. Mr. Nock is our mathematics teacher and is liked by all. Then come Mr. Greiner and Miss Beacom, who teach freshman history, while Miss Fisher teaches junior history. Though the sophomores can't understand the value of ancient history at present, they work dili- gently with Mr. Porch. The seniors really enjoy their P.O.D. classes with Miss Barnhart for they learn what they have forgotten in history in previous years. We may hear readings, debates, and declamations being coached by Mr. Silvis, but he also helps the seniors with salesmanship and economics. Many graduates of Hurst become salesladies and salesmen. Also Mr. Clark helps many of us form our careers by teaching bookkeeping and general business training. Our science wa' f Zigi ,W .,a.,, I T ' f ,lf N ,fx K , I MARGARET H. classes struggle hard with Miss Myers, Miss Bamhart, and Miss Kaputa in understanding Silas Marnerl' and Ivanhoe . It is cer- tain the freshmen English students did not expect to have to con- tinue conjugating verbs after they entered high school, but Miss Andrews and Miss Potts, their teachers, think they will be doing so for some time. From Room 3 we may hear Parlez vous francais? from the junior French class, and Hje trouve le francais tres bien from the senior French class. We wonder what it means, nevertheless, we know it's French that Miss Beacom is teaching. Then suddenly we hear strange sounds from Miss Andrews class. The freshmen are conjuating Latin verbs which sound like tongue twisters. The soph- omores are becoming friends of Caesar, while the juniors and seniors enjoy themselves with Vergil. Perhaps it's a good thing they have Miss Potts to help them or Caesar and Vergil would be losing friends. Understanding Of Knowledge RUTH D, GRAHAM. B. S. JOHN BATISTE, B.S., Ed.M. JOHN CLARK.
