Senator Edward Kennedy accepted for the john F. Kennedy Library a copy of the 1964 Green Leaf, edited by Frank jones, son of Mrs. joan jones llanguage departmentj. Delaware Senators john William and Ca- leb Boggs were part of the Mt. Pleasant contingent for the presentation. The Green Leaf that year dedicated two pages to the assassinated president. 1965 - lt was a night to remember when British Actor Author Emlyn Williams brought Charles Dickens to life on our stage A most charming folk singer Kay Britten made one of her several appearances here The then very popular Serendipity Singers gave a really great show. An evening of Edgar Allan Poe by Nelson Olmsted fascinated and often amused lovers of the distinguished poet's works, especially the reading of The Bells . 1966 - jasper Deeter, Founder and director of the World Renowned Hedgerow Theatre and personal friend of playwright Eugene O'Neill, read scenes from A Long Day's journey Into Night. Another Biology teacher, john Michalcewiz succeeded the late Mr. Bomboy as principal of the High School. 1967 - And Still more distinguished visitors to Mt. P. in the person of Nicholas Lindsay, son of Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay. A poet himself, we heard the poems of his immortal father read impeccably. 15

Hal Holbrook in the person of Mark Twain thrilled a capaci- ty audience with his historic performance as the illustrious author. Earl Wrightson and Lois Hunt of Broadway and Opera Fame made musical magic for another vast audience. 1964 - Leon Bibb, brilliant folk sing- er, performed to another Full House . Pleasant. ment artist series were mesmerized by - Rodgers and Hammerstein's thiS exotic grOUp. enduring Carousel. 1971 - Opera Club members heard world famous tenor Richard Tucker at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band continued the stream of great Rock Concerts by the Student Council. The musical that year was The King and I. On Earth Day, April 21, Theta, a sculpture of Serpentine Stone by Chadds Ford Sculptor, Phelix Brandimarti was unveiled in special ceremonies before many dis- tinguished dignataries. The sculpture now graces the lobby of the High School. 1972 - We discovered the many moods of BB. King, Ed Earle of Bucks County and Broadway Fame came here to direct a stunning West Side Story. iohn Calvin, member of the class of '65, made bigtime on T.V. as the son-in-law on the Paul Lynde Show.
