A TRIBUTE TO AN OUTSTANDING TEACHER This has been a memorable year in the history of the Mount Pleasant School District because it has marked not only the division of the senior and junior high schools but also the commencement of a won- derful new undertaking, the occupancy of our new school. It has been a year of trial and error, of success and disappointment. But yet, with all of these changes, We have retained one very important feature, that salient point is the desire and willingness of our teachers to continue to sacrifice themselves and their time solely for our benefit with only personal satisfaction as their reward. For this, we are truly grateful. Each year, the Green Leaf pays tribute to a member of the distinguished Mount Pleasant facultyg so it is that this year, the Class of 1959 honors a deeply devoted teacher. Our dedicatee has been an inspiration to both students and faculty and an exemplification of her pro- fession to the community. She has contributed unlimitedly to our school. Many of us who have been members of the Future Teachers of America Club, which she advises, have benefited greatly from her vast knowledge and experience. Others will remember her fine guidance as a Student Council Advisor. All of us to Whom she taught algebra or geometry will never forget the many axioms, postulates, theorems, and, of course, the quadratic formula which she taught us. For this, her outstanding teaching ability, she was named Delawareis Teacher of the Year in 1957. We, the Seniors, will certainly always re- member our wonderful Junior year, to which she contributed so much of her time, her efforts, and herself, always on hand with just the right punch for our dances, making sure that we all received our class rings, and above all, taking a personal interest in each and every member of our class. For her numerous contributions to our school and to our community-for the honor that she has brought to Mount Pleas- ant, we, the Senior Class, dedicate the 1959 Green Leaf to Miss Ethel M. Roe.
