s fs, Q5 t in Q? The 1983 Football season was much like riding a roller coaster. The season opened with the Cardinals winning three straight games in very convincing fashion. After games four, five and six, the Cards had earned their record at 3-3 The Red birds rebounded from the losing skid by defeating Piedmont Hills in the annual Homecoming game. After a loss to league champion and C.C.S. finalist, Oak Grove, the team played its best game of the season by beating heavily favored Santa Teresa 21-7. In spite of a 5-5 record, the 1983 varsity team can be characterized as one dedicated to hard work and discipline. The furture seems bright as many starters will return on the offense and defense to provide the 1984 Cardinal team with needed leadership and talent. In conclusion, I would like to single out those graduating seniors making the All-League team in the M.H.ll.L. First team honors went to: Richard Barefield fDefensive backlg Noelan Harper fline backerlg Brian Bowers CReceiverJ. Making second team llll-League was line backer, Xavier Fitzhugh. The team had only three seniors to lead the way. Only having a record of 4 wins 5 losses.
