STUTZMAN Advisor MARCUS CLASTER President The Student Council serves as a mediating body between our faculty and students. Composed of a boy and a girl representative from each class, this governing organization endeavors to promote school spirit, provide assembly entertainment, sponsor dances, and respond to suggestions from students for improvements in the school. Possessing legislative and judicial powers the Council strives to give each student a recognized voice in the affairs of Mt. Penn High School. Tlenn A£ma 1943 The immediate and all-consuming task confronting us is to win this war. Some of you will go forth to serve in our Armed Forces. I am confident that you will follow the superb example of those from Mt. Penn High School who have preceded you. It is my earnest prayer that the day of victory be not far off, and that, the war task accomplished, you may return to your chosen pursuits of a pleasanter life. It is to this day, and the work then waiting to be done, that you must and shall look forward. Your opportunity for service will be unlimited, the possibilities of achievement undreamed of. Affiliated with the State Young Men s Christian Association, its purpose is—“to create, maintain and extend high standards ol Chr stian character throughout the school and community.” Members are chosen on the basis of character, leadership, and scholarship, and are elected each year by the club membership committee. Among the many services rendered during the 19-12-1943 school year by the 20 members of the Hi-Y were the sponsoring of social events for grade school children as well as parties and dances for high school students. One of the most important of these affairs was the annual Egg Hunt held late in April for the younger children. Another important service activity carried out by the club was the sending of Christmas and Easter greeting cards to the several hundred alumni of Mt. Penn High School now in the Armed Forces. Meeting weekly, under the direction of Miss Kerling, they prepare vocal selections for presentation at various school affairs.
