Fine art works included water colors. oils, tempera work. mosaics and ink drawings. Practical art productions xmre sculpture. cabinets. veneer. stitchings. cerun1ics,jewelry and silver. WATER BED History was made at M. N. D. on March 10. 1972 when J'm Scott, W. S. A. 1. disc jockey. presented a waterbed 10 the school. Members of the Student Lounge Committee had long been striving to furnish the lounge. and the. waterbed has since proved to be an asset in this campaign. A large HThank Youii letter was addressed to Jim Scott who later shared it with his radio audience. FRESHMAN TEA Freshmen and their mothers were invited to the annual tea held in their honor on October 10. Members of the faculty were on hand to meet and greet the guests and discuss the coming year. W SPARK SESSIONS The spark days. gave students the opportunity to try their luck in new hobbies. Speakers were obtained to give information about practical fields. such as: knitting, macrume: embroidery. yoga. modern dance. cooking, and photography. Spark sessions lasted two days. January 27 and 28. 87 WELCOME CLASS OF 75 Seniors and sophomores displayed a wide variety of talents in welcoming assemblies for the freshmen. On October 22 the Class 0f 74 entertained the fresh with strange looking Muppets and a humorous interpretation of the Farkle Family. Karen Schulkers introduced the audience to many talented seniors. Never before had M.N.Dfs stage been graced with the presence of the McGuire Sistersi Freshmen were given their first lesson in preparing for a big date, and Shirley Reisenberg added a touch of culture in her dance interpretation of Gone is Love? Decorations followed the theme of Early American Down Home Funk tmd included Checked tablecloths. dried Hower arrangements and scarecrows. Juniors entered the cafeteria over a bridge lined with wagon wheels on either side. Refreshments consisted of homemade cookies served with punch and apple cider from an authentic ruin barrel. The whole atmosphere tied the theme into the spirit of the Thanksgiving holidays, MISSION DAY On November 24. the students of MIND. cnjtncd thc annual festivities of Mission Dzu. 1n the cafeteria fifteen booths were set up mxuiting the studcnts and their mini friends. CHRISTMAS Student CouncilTs Christmas assembly, held on December 32. featured Santa and Scrooge as special guests. Santa arrived by sleigh, pulled by his reindeer and escorted by an eltl Patiently awaiting his arrival were Edith Ann and Gladys. The Bunker family discussed the ever-popular con- troversial topic of El black Santa. The assembly was brought to a close as students and faculty joined in singing hSilent Night. The floor of the auditorium served as the stage throughout most of the per- formance in which the birth of Christ was reenacted. The Capitol Building, the Smithsonian Institute and the Arlington National Ceme- tery were the points of interest visited at our nationgs Capitol. In New York City they were guided through the United Nations building and the Statue Of Liberty and attended the Broadway play ttApplause.
