Soldiers and sailors and civilians are finding a powerful stimulus to morale in MUSIC, according to many statesmen and educators who have joined in urging the nation to make the greatest possible use of this instrument in its FIGHT for FREEDOM. Now that our country is at war, the importance of pure MUSIC and all fine ARTS is much greater than ever before, declared Dr. Williams Lyons Phelps, of Yale University. Gulfivafe music . Music is the voice of civilization and we must not lose interest in the very things we are fighting to preserve. Instead of sllghting or neglecting PURE MUSIC, we should cultivate it more earnestly in the months to come. To do this will be to fulfill one of the highest aims of PATRIOTISM. Proper Music in the home, on the radio and in SCHOOLS and COLLEGES will do more to inspire Patriotism, elevate morale, submerge sorrow and encourage increased effort than any other form of activity. I do not ask. 0 Lord, That in the SYMPHONY of LIFE, My voice should sing A note of wondrous power But that in harmony With other lives it ring.
