Smqmg and playing, We, likewise Pause our Voices to V- Note . Music is a S a c r e d. a divine. a God-like thing. and was given to man by Christ to lift our hearts up to God. and make us feel something of the Glory and beauty of God. and of all which God has made. The GLEE CLUB, organized a few years ago. is by no means inferior to the Or- chestra as a vehicle of musical expression for the students. It offers opportunities for cultivating the voice and mind through classical music and lyric. Though the Glee Club members hold no pretensions of be- ing a professional chorus. yet. they at- tempt to perform practically every type of vocal music-from operatic selections to popular. patriotic and folk tunes. The young songsters add to all school and festival programs by their charming har'- mony of youthful hearts poured out into joyful chords. On April 19. the Glee Club Member's joined the Orchestra in the Concert. testi- fying to what eager music lovers can ac- complish in this art. The Program was varied, containing besides a scene from Moniuszko's opera, Straszny Dworf' and a longer orchestral composition, featuring Polish Folk tunes Polskie Kwiatyf' such The Keynote of our Orchestra is PROGRESS. and keeping in step with TIME. we surely do march ON TO VIC- TORY. Although organized only a few years ago. the M.N.A. Orchestra under the capable direction of talented conductor, Mr. Vaclav Klimek. is truly attaining high standards in the line of both classical and popular music. It supplies the festive tone to school activities and outstanding Pro- grams of the year. The CONCERT held on April 19. at Herron Hill Auditorium was the first of its kind. and. therefore. requires special men- tion in this Annual. It was there that our Orchestra members demonstrated their extra- ordinary talents and ability. revealing to the enraptured audience: What Passion cannot Music Raise or Quellf' selections as G0unod's Nazareth Oginski's J PoZegnanie Ojczy- znyj' an English Ope- retta. The Rose of Savoy. and other vocal and instrumental numbers. Enchanted by their great suc- cess. the M.N.A. music lovers aware of the fact that music is the rzost artistic expres- sion of the human soul, wish to perfect themselves steadily in this harmonius kin- dering of Classical Music. 13.133 Q!!
