The Mounder of 1943 it THE DEAR OLD SCHCOL jean Allen The school was a bustling, busy old place, Alive with shrill giggles and many a faceg The students were hurrying first here and then there And a spirit of gaiety filled all the air. Noises were floating all over the hall, And one could not hear e'en the loudeit call. Shouts from the Playroom floated up from belowg And everyone seemed to just tear to and fro. Last night as I walked in the gloomy, old hall, I heard not a sound-silence reigned over allg And I thought to myself it was really quite strange That youth's merry voices could make such a change. l8l
