MORRIS SONIAN VALEDIC TORY Parents, teachers, and friends All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players This quotation from Shakespeare still applies today Tonight we, the Class of 1951, are ready to start the great drama of Life In this drama everyone has a part, whether large or small, which must be acted to the best of our ability We've not had our scripts long, nor have we had a great many rehearsals, but we have had capable and understanding directors to give us our initial training, for which we are indeed grateful But our directors can do nothing more than tra1n advise and en courage us When we are on stage we must put our training to its best use, and our instructors can onlv look on from the wings We all have the assurance of one Omnipotent Director who is ever security gives us confidence We are eager to take our cues and vmprove from experience e can't expect smash hits right away these are very rare but we do hope for and expect long successful runs We can't all expect to be stars ', or see our names in l1ghts but the work behind the scenes IS just as important no matter how magnificent or minute, because without these supporting cast members and crews the ' stars could not be successful When lt comes time for the final ' curtaln call we hope that we may honestly say We have done our very best and hear a grati fying applause from our audience In launching this great drama, we might well take the motto of the National Thespian Society a quotation from Pope, as our own motto Act well your part, there all the honor l1es Leona Ostrander II present, guiding, directing, and protecting our performances, this W . .
