at the start of this 1972-73 school year, the students were beginning to settle down into the old school routine. besides the amount of effort needed to get back into studying, students were encouraged to join several class discussions and take part in individual projects. for the first time, students were allowed to chose their own classes, plus their favorite teachers, and the preferred period for each class. e.s.p. was successful and will take place with only a few changes at the beginning of next year. 1. in a spare moment between her hetic class schedule, yolanda marmolejo is enjoying the classical novel H2099 with the wind. 2. explaining methods for student experiments, mr. swanson gets full attention from his second period physics class. 3. given a chance to set their own study habits, mrs. hanson's fourth-year spanish class enjoys independent study method of learning. 4. students from mr. engberg's health class experiment with blind-folds and canes to experience what it is like to be blind. 5. paul copeland gives new members of the mil memorias staff an insight on the work that a yearbook class consists of. 6. a lone girl enjoys the quiet of mount migue-l's quad for studying purposes.

I 1 , E i , I. the homecoming court of 1972-73 is queen diane carlson, princess sue brown, princess pam mitchell, princess jan utterback, princess karen schuff. the queen was announced on october 27 during homecoming halftime. .143 I5 i E Q i showing fabulous school spirit and talent, this year's choir assembled a hillbilly float for homecoming which won them first place and a twenty-five dollar prize. this particular float, as well as many others created by various school groups, were proudly displayed at the football game. following the hillbilly floats were the homecoming finalists: diane carlson, karen schuff, sue brown, jan utterback and pam mitchell. the girls anxiously awaited the announcing of the 1972-73 queen. after what seemed like hours, diane carlson was crowned queen. 1. following the theme of hillbillies, the junior class float made its debut. 2. princess sue brown with escort tony Suther- land and attendant nana corfield. 3. princess pam mitchell escorted by doug gegax. her attendant, susie pickerd, is not shown. 4. princess karen schuff and escort mark schuff was attended by Ieslie jefferies. 5. princess jan utterback, attendant leesa taylor with escort paul harding. 6. diane carlson with escor't john bains. not shown: queen diane's attendant, cathy sparacino.
