The purpose of IRC is to help create student interest in foreign affairs. Once a month there is a principal speaker, and weekly groups gather for informal current events discussions. One of the highlights of the year is the annual conference in February with well known speakers, discussions, and informal question periods. IRC is also a co-sponsor of Foreign Students’ Night. IRC Chaps ft. Hoiton, Klein, Donnells president. Political Union A new and struggling organization on campus is the Political Union which encourages interest in studying domestic issues. The club hopes to help members become more familiar with the party system and to form unbiased opinions of the three major political factions, the Democrats, the Republicans and the Independents. The Mount Holyoke News, almost forty this year, shows no signs of fatigue. The staff, a tireless crew, lets nothing interfere with the weekly edition. Even this year s Hallowe'en “dummy robbery couldn't prevent the News from making its faithful Friday appearance, although it meant several girls had to stay up until the wee small hours to make it possible. For anything that's worth knowing . . . past or future campus events, somebody's new social status, the exam schedule, programs for the week on WMHC, or student opinion on some controversial issue . . . consult the News.
