Orchestra If you should wander into the music building some Thursday evening, you would undoubtedly hear the college orchestra practicing their crescendos or appogiaturas for the annual M.I.T. concert or a home appearance. This year they worked in conjunction with Dramatic Club on the fall production of Peer Gynt. The musicians hail from the town, faculty, and students. Glee Club This year marked the thirtieth anniversary of the Mount Holyoke Glee Club Christmas concerts in Town Hall. Pre-New York concerts were presented on campus and in Holyoke with the singers garbed in festive red cassocks. In the spring the melody makers took to the road for joint concerts with Bowdoin and Wesleyan. A good time was had by all. Seventeen

Practice makes perfect Class Choirs The various class choirs arc responsible for much of the music on campus: the freshmen generally make their debut en grand masse around Christmas, the sophomores gallantly sing once a week for chapels, the juniors faithfully produce most of the Sunday church music, and the seniors retire gracefully with an occasional church or vesper service and maybe a joint concert with another college. V-8’s The small exclusive singing group on campus was organized during the war and still goes by the name of the Y-8’s. This year they made a new record, and everyone wishes them luck in sales. As they hold their weekly rehearsals in the C.I., it is sometimes possible to be created to a preview of the season’s attractions. Mr. Duncan Dramatic Club If you enjoy wallowing around in buckets of paint, fitting an old costume to a new shape, conjuring up hitherto unheard of but necessary props, operating a gramaphone , guiding people to the place their ticket requires, juggling spots and watts, or even acting, then D.C. is waiting for your talents. To be- come a member you must spend just twenty hours working on productions. Dramatic Club traditionally presents two plays a year besides the freshman one-acts in early spring. Last fall Dance Club and orchestra augmented the cast of the ambitious Peer Gynt production. The Crew Eighteen
