STUDENT GOVERNMENT Association is new to Mount Holyoke. For two years students investigated other college governments and formulated a constitution suited to our own needs. Where formerly responsibility for government rested with faculty, administration, and students, it now rests with the students alone. Its success depends entirely upon group cooperation for the good of the whole. Thus, each individual has her own place in helping the government prove itself worthy of the work involved in creating it. The honor system becomes more signifi- cant since its philosophy is also that of individual responsibility. The world has shown a need for closer correlation between a govern- ment and its people based on cooperation among those people. Here at college we have a chance to train ourselves to meet this responsibility. Illinor Codina, Marilyn Cupp, Ruth (till, President, Aileen Cramer, absent.

Ratbbun, Hilles, Gill, Baldwin, Chairman, Crandall, Funk, N - burg, Cushman. JUDICIAL BOARD J. B. is the guardian of the law.” It maintains observ- ance of the rules and the honor system, and this function can be truly effective only if the majority of students agree with these codes. If the rules seem fair, then ad- herence to them is vitally important; if they seem unfair, the students may act to change them. By having its cases printed in the News, J.B. has shown its desire for our cooperation and understanding. 17
