dlit iJUmonam JpHE recent death of Professor Charles A. Young, of Princeton University, has taken from this college one of its most valued trustees, one whose interest in our welfare was always strong and helpful. For many years a regular lecturer here, he had the affection and friendship of all the Faculty and students who knew him. To him we owe, moreover, the completeness of ourequipment in astronomy, for he carefully planned our present observatory, and selected the instruments. There was a true kindliness and simplicity in Professor Young’s manner and speech that made only more impressive his real greatness as a man and as a scientist. There was no uncertainty in his attitude toward divine truth or toward the Author ol the Universe, and those who heard him when he conducted the chapel service knew that the famous astronomerwas also the devout and reverent disciple of the Great Teacher.
