Softball Slides The 1976 Girls' Softball team, under the coaching of Ms. Schmidt, completed the season with a county record of 6-3. Of this year's thirteen players, Jean Soscia, Bonnie Smitherman, Regina Grabowski, Patti Murray, Marlene Rooney, Dawn Young, Jean Makowski and Doris Makowski were returning play- ers. The new team members were Lisa Becraft, Sue Mahar, Lori Stratman, Teri Kelley and Barb Sima. Both rookie and veteran players devoted much time and effort to insure a fine season. At' Ellen Milburn, Dawn Willoughby, Lynda Bauer, Tami Lodder, Wendy Will, Beth Armstrong, Mary Pat Beyer, Kathy Johnson, lane Beresford, Janet Spangler, Sue DeCrispino, Liz Mueller, Heather Kelley, Brooke Thielemann, Dede Moore, Mary Ann Makar. Becky Cooke, Martha Girl, Martha Hayner, Sandy Stosz, Debby Davis, Lisa Lanier, Debbie Hammond, Pam Johnson, Gwen Wells, Shelly Sharbaugh, Bonnie Rooney, Coach Holshue. The Girls' Track team enjoyed its best season ever this spring with an 8-4 dual meet record and a Howard County Co-Champion- ship. Twenty-seven girls were a part of this year's team, with everyone contributing to our very first track championship. With only six seniors graduating this year, a strong future seems prob- able. Individually, Pepper Ham- mond became the first Mt. Hebron girl to win a state cham- pionship in the shotput. The Boys' Track team had a good season, sending six team members to the state champion- ship. New records were set in the high jump, 2-mile run, 330 hur- dles, and 2-mile relay.
