Mock Trial Team Goes To State Contest Luke Taylor. fvyers Greta Loren and Colleen Copp prepare for competition. Way Mock Trial team members relax at a banquet held in honor all the teams that made it to the state competition. Ohio Mock Trial is a statewide pro- gram which endeavors to teach high school students about the United States' judicial system. This is accom- plished by allowing students to as- sume the roles of attorneys and wit- nesses, and then argue against other teams in an imaginary court case. This year Mt. Gilead defeated its first round opponent, Delaware Hayes, and therefore advanced to the state competition. Mt. Gilead's team trav- eled to Columbus and presented an excellent, case, but lost to its first com- petitor at state level. School Dramatically Increases Donations Every year Mount Gilead High School competes with the other county schools in the Red Cross' high school blood drive. Through the efforts of members of FMA, who sponsor the Bloodmobile and their advisor Mrs. Virginia Meyer, 117 students and faculty signed up to donate blood. A total of 105 pints of blood were actually donated which was a big increase over the 69 pints donated last year. Because of everyone's hard work Mr. Miller and Mr. Beck gave each donor a candy bar. Leana Scott, Roxie Monk, Kathy Fricke, and Debby Wiseman wait to register to give blood. 1 -1213 W xiii'-v.,, Tony Nicholson gets his temperature and pulse taken by a nurse during a check of health histories. if Susan Reid gets her blood pressure taken, if if its 4 if sei? 3 Misti Cotton is still smiling after having a blood sample taken from her ear.
