High school principal Paul Pendleton hold the Mid-Ohio Confer- ence Ala Sports' Trophy. Fton Thill was named MOC Coach of the Year in Cross Country and in Girls' Track. Coach Thill, whose cross country team fin- ished 2nd and girls' track team finished 1st in MOC action, heads toward the gym before the rain at the Mount Gilead Relays. Coach Larry Furniss' golf team compiled a record of 11 wins and 5 losses in dual meets. The Indians won the MOC championship at the conference meet at Peeble Creek Course. Mr. Furniss was named MOC Golf Coach of the Year. Coach Jeff Diehl gives instructions to Jeff Tschudi. Coach Diehl led the Indians' basketball team from a last place finish in 1982 to the MOC championship in in 1983. For this accomplishment, Mr. Diehl was named MOC Basketball Coach of the Year. Right: Coach Chris Kubbs waits for the game to begin. Coach Kubb's baseball team won the MOC championship with a 10-1 record. Mr. Kubbs was named MOC Baseball Coach of the Year.

MOC Honors 5 Players And 4 Coaches Mount Gilead's athletic teams haves dominated the Mid- Ohio Conference during the 1982-83 season. On the basis of final team standing in the ten sports sanctioned by the MOC, Mount Gilead High School was awarded the Mid- Ohio Conference All Sports' Trophy at the conference's year-end awards meeting. During the year while Mount Gilead teams were earning this trophy, five Indian athletes were voted the MOC Most Valuable Player award in their respective sports. In addition, four Mount Gilead coaches were voted the honor of Coach of the Year as a result of their work in developing their teams. Medalist Doug Yake led the Mount Gilead golf team to a 11-5 record and the MOC championship. Doug was named the MOC's Most Valuable Player in golf. Dan Campbell, Mount Gilead's out- standing distance runner, was the MOC's Most Valuable Player in cross country. Dan took first in the MOC cross country meet at Kokosing Park in a time of 17:20. Quarterback Nathan Long who is shown on a rollout play was voted the MOC's Most Valuable Player Award in football. Nathan led the Indians in yards gained passing, points scored on field goals, and points after touchdowns. From the option play, Na- than also gained over 700 yards rushing. 'Q Q if Exi t . E. A 1 C Indian pitcher Mike Curtis was named the MOC's Most Valuable Player in baseball. Mike's pitching record was 7 wins and 1 loss with a 1.00 earned run average. Mike also maintained a .372 batting average for the season. Kim Smith, the lndian's outstanding sprinter, is shown setting the pace in the District Prelims. Kim was voted the MOC's Most Valuable Player in Girls' Track. Kim was only beaten twice in the 200 meters during the entire season as she led the girls to the MOC title. Kim finished seventh in the 100 meters and third in the 200 meters in the state finals.

High School Takes Bloodmobile Trophy On March 14th, Mount Gilead students and faculty com- peted in a contest with Northmor, Cardington, and High- land in which the contestants were out not for blood, but to give life-saving blood. The Future Medical Association organized the campaign in the high school to recruit do- nors for the Red Cross Bloodmobile visit. Fifty-nine donors responded to the call and Mount Gilead High School won the championship trophy for Morrow County. 23 T i f 1 l 2 Central Ohio Red Cross Bloodmobile Chairman Nancy Lange presents the championship trophy to Mount Gilead High School Principal Paul Pendleton. Mrs. Virginia Meyer, advisor of the Future Medical Association, holds the Bloodmobile pennant pre- sented to the school.
