ini-Course Program Is A Big Success. Classes at Mount Gilead High School on March 30th 31st were very different from the normal school routine . For a fifth time the Student Council sponsored and planned a Mini - Course program. The program was intended to give the stu- dent body exposure to subject areas not normally included in the school curriculum . Ninety- two different subject areas were selected to be offered. Cake decorating, making sand candles, bicycling, disco dancing, horsemanship, archery, and many other courses were held at the high school. Some students traveled to the Pizza House for pizza-making, to Whetstone Lanes for bowling and billards, to Bob Jones' lake for trout fishing , to the Galion Community Center for swim- ming , and to the Mt . Vernon YMCA for racquetball. Classes were taught by school personnel, students, and volunteers from the commmiity. Tours of I-IPM Corporation, J. G . Clark Company, WNCI Studios, and the Mansfield General Motors Plant were conducted. During Mini-Course week, French Club took a field trip to Quebec , Canada and Thespians took a theater study trip to New York City. Kelly Sheets and Robin Meyer learn backgammon in Ms. Sherry Sidaway's beginners' class. ILL., ln Mrs. Pat Brake's cake decorating class, Sue Fitzgerald, jane Shade, janae Tschudi, and julie Maher learn to use decorating bags. Q Before going out on the archery range, Bob Ruhl points out techniques in his archery class. Dick Miller explains the steps in making sand candles to his class. l N T l I Trent Thomas is the winner of the trophy for the largest fish and Craig Nelson is the winner for the most fish in Mr. jones' fishing class .

French Club Tours Montreal And Quebec City As part of the Mini-Course activities, the French Club sponsored a field trip to French Canada. Thirteen student and three chaperons participated in the trip. The group left Mt . Gilead on March 27th and traveled by car to Windsor, On- tario. From Windsor to Montreal and Quebec City, the group traveled by Canadian National Railroad . In Montreal , students visited Notre Dame Cathedral, the 1976 Olympic Site, the Montreal Botanical Gardens, and many other at- tractions. The following day the group moved on to Quebec City. St. Anne de Beaupre , Montmorency Falls, the outdoor bake ovens , woodcarver's shop, the Chateau Frontenac , and the Plains of Abraham were among sights visited in and around Quebec City. Students dined in the revolving Astral Restaurant on the 27th floor of Loew's Le Concorde Hotel . The group returned to Mt. Gilead on April lst. nag: - vw Barb Taylor, Luane Campbell, Lisa Baxter, Sandy Evans, lBack Rowj Lonnie Korody, Nancy Beltz, and Clndy Gandee pose on one of the canon on the remparts in Quebec City. 1..--L giane Campbell looks at the artistic work in the Woodcarvers op .
