CHEERLEADERS COMPLETE VERY SUCCESSFUL YEAR At the Homecoming Game, neither rain, snow, nor sleet stops the Mount Gilead Cheerleaders. This year's Cheerleaders were made up of two separate varsity squads, a football squad and a basketball squad. This was to give more girls a chance to get involved. The Reserve and Fresh- men squads completed the cheerleading corps. Besides doing the regular projects such as earning money, holding pep rallies, decorating the school, and cheering at games, the cheerleaders performed some outside activities. They took on such tasks as making pillow cases, decorating the downtown monument, baking cakes, and the ever popular decorating houses. Being a cheerleader is a lot of hard work and not everyone can imagine all the time, energy, and effort put into it. But ask any cheerleader and they will say that it all pays off when you see the excite- ment of a crowd or the happiness of your team when the game is over and you've won! VARSITY FOOTBALL CHEERLEADERS: Terri Bland--alternate, Corinne Hetrick, Mary Jo Adams, Caren Machen, Bretta Dodrill, Kim Benton, Shari Kreider. 11
