We are hoping to see you, our patient and long- suffering advisors, at the Modern Mount Everett Hotel, owned by Oscar Grahn. In order to prepare you for any forthcoming shocks, perhaps I should brief you on the happenings of my fellow classmates. First of all, Dick Howden has really made rapid head- way in the construction business. He is the proud owner of the R. H. Howden Company, wh- ich constructed the United States Throughway No. 5. By the way, did you know Dorothy Bassett is his private secretary? Speaking of secretaries, both Pat Stanton and Crissy Emprimo are private secretaries to Peabody Brothers, Inc. , who own the Tehran Oil Company in Iran. You'll be pleased to know that Bill Eigen, singing The Toreador from Carmen , just made his first appearance at the Met. The staff of the Hartford General Hospital reached its peak in P -riormance two years ago when Anita Sellew, Betty Chamberlain and Geraldine Taylor joined it. Wasn't it con- venient that they were all accepted at the same hospital? Three years ago Linda Gaylord and Carolyn Woodbeck held the grand opening of their Tres Chic Beauty Salon in Hollywood, California. vugtuivur-1----1 - - '- f Class Histor For the first two years of our high school career the class of 1956 attended four diff- erent high schools: Searles: Roeliff Jansen: Sheffield: and New Marlboro. Although we studied at the same schools in our third year, we were united under the establishment of Mount Everett Regional School, and all were considered as Mt. Everett students. As we reached the exalted rank of Seniors , we were finally privileged to enter the new Mount Everett Regional School and emerge as its first graduating class. Let's now trace our jour- ney. Four years ago five space-ships left the five stars of the constellation, Auriga, with Earth as their destination. The names of these ships from outer space were: Searles I, built in Monterey: Searles II, built in Egremont: Roe Ian, built in Alford: Sheffield: and New Marlboro. During the first three years of their journey, Searles I and Searles II training crews enjoyed a well-balanced educational course. In their third year aloft they were detained from landing because the aerial academy at Sheffield was not ready for habitation. In their freshman year the Roe Ian ship was under repair: therefore, the crew rode in the Searles II ship. The second year the crew transferred to their own ship and continued for the remainder of their stint straight on course. Eleven girls formed the passenger list for the New Marlboro air line during their three years together. Bill Eigen, whom authorities transferred from New York, assumed command over the female contingent for the last lap of the trip. Meanwhile the space-ship, Sheffield, made fast progress and was held on course by its able advisors. Roll call of the thirteen recruits was taken by Mrs. Roraback. At the beginning of the third year, the ships interrupted their course to meet at Mars Air Terminal, where they changed their names to Mt. Everett. Their destination was pin- pointed as the Mt. Everett Regional School on Earth. Before we fully realized it, zero hour approached and we all landed at Mt. Everett Regional where Commander Bybee met us at the door. Shirley Snyder and David Germaine climbed from the rocket constructed in Alford. Alighting from the rocket built in Egremont were Rose Kirchner and Oscar Grahn. From the Monterey rocket emerged Leslie Ward. A whole platoon consisting of Martha Brewer, Clarissa Emprimo, Anita Sellew, Alma Stalker, Lenora Wells, Betty Chamberlain, Patricia Stanton, Deanna Emprimo, and William Eigen emerged from the New Marlboro rocket. Next came the Sheffield Squadron with Betty Gibbs , Geraldine Taylor, Dorothy Bassett, Beatrice Swan, Gertrude Conklin, Linda Gaylord, Car- olyn Woodbeck, Steve Macchi, Philip Ball, Fred Franklin, Philip Boardman, and Richard Howden. Already arrived from the Housatonic Valley Regional rocket was Io Hayburn. Do- lores Kinarney of Iersey City, New Iersey, was the last to join our force. Mrs. Iayne Arm- strong and Mr. Trocchi were ready with last minute advice and instruction before turning us loose on this island, Earth. The chief officers of the crew were: Captain, Gertrude

glamorous stars . News was received recently that Fred Franklin has been made a jet pilot for the Air Force in Hawaii. David Germaine, who is making the Navy his career, is now scanning the ocean bottom as Commander of the Nautilus. However, they'll both be on leave for our reunion. Our two prize agricultural students, Philip Ball and Philip Boardman, are now mana- ging the largest cattle ranch in Wyoming. They were recently visited by Steve Macchi, who is now the star player for the Boston Celtics. Also making the western sunshine bright are Deanna Emprimo and Alma Stalker. After serving four years in the Marine Corps, Alma is now a sergeant in charge of recruiting. Deanna, who is living with her in a trailer, is teaching music at the University of Nevada and is engaged to a Spanish professor there. Remember the two joke tellers, Rose Kirchner and Io Hayburn? Io does designs for store windows, while Rose does the actual trimming. They are so much in demand that they travel constantly all over the world. I attended a fashion show recently in which the magnificent work of Bea Swan was modeled by no other than Betty Gibbs. Between them they are doing beautiful work and are also enjoying life in a penthouse in New York. Two classmates , Shirley Snyder and Lenora Wells, married soon after graduation. Shirley, who lives in Alabama, corresponds with Lenora in Vermont. Dolores Kinarney, now Mrs. Cedric Sidney of Oxford, England, may be able to att- end our approaching festivities provided she can obtain a leave of absence from her teach- ing profession. Two of my old colleagues, Leslie Ward and Martha Brewer, have both proved success- ful. Residing in Alaska, Martha has inherited a large, whale blubber refining factory, while Leslie is with her missionary husband deep in the heart of Africa. As for myself, I have just returned from an expedition into the Everglades where I studied the habits of the Okeeghobee frogs. We hope you'll be able to attend the reunion where further information undoubtedly will be uncovered concerning the class of '56, Sincerely , Trudy Conklin
