HOWARD JONES Trustee cut Ac!at- At) A tem MESSAGE FOR THE DIABLO YEARBOOK By James W. Deni The past decade has been one of tremendous expansion in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District. Ten years ago Mt. Diablo High School was the only secondary school in the district. Today there are four high schools in operation, a fifth under construction, and more to come as we strive to meet the needs of our ever-increasing teen-age population. Like some forms of protozoa. Mt. Diablo High School has divided its student body several times to create new nuclei on now campuses. In the process, however, the main body has maintained its own strength and vigor, developing new protoplasm to replace the old. Unlike the new high schools, Mt. Diablo has a solid founda- tion of tradition, interests and activities built up during the past half century. These have been edapted to the needs of the changing times as our area has grov n, and as it has developed from an agricultural into a suburban community. Mt. Diablo High School can be very proud of the attain- ments of its students past and present in the fields of scholar- ship, sportsmanship, and citizenship.
