£onuL Jolt, UJinhA. andI c DR FERO DIEL principal The first half of the twentieth century has marked the increasing importance of education. This has resulted in knowledge and know how in numerous fields. Few members of the first graduation class from Mt. Diablo High could have imag- ined the age of jets, rockets, missiles and satellites into which we have entered a half century later. Many people feel that the most important event of 1958 in this country has nothing to do with rockets, politics or other seemingly important subjects, but that it is in the awakening of a greater appreciation of the intellectual. If this is so. the accomplishments of the past will diminish in stature in comparison with the marvels to be revealed in the future. Every member of the class of 1958 should feel the challenge to play an important part in revealing the bright new world of tomorrow, and graduation from high school should be just the first step toward obtaining knowledge making it possible for him to play his part.
