The1r hrgh school days began when they were cruelly rntttated by the senrors of 1955 The sponsor thts year was Mr Banks From therr freshman year they took a mtghty step hoprng they wouldn trtp toward hrgher educatton by becomrng sophomores Durrng thts year they brtghtened the school constderably by recewrng therr royal blue and whtte class sweaters Carolyn Thomas Jorned them this year In therr Junlor year they elected Mrs Shumway as sponsor and started off by orderrng therr class rrngs Durrng basketball season they were prrvtleged to sell at the County Tourney One of the most enyoyable projects of therr JUHIOI year was the presentatron of thetr play FINDERS CREEPERS The year was hrghlrghted by the Jumor semor receptton held at the TOP HAT tn Muncre Durrng thrs year Ltnda Caldwell Mary Lou Colston and Tom Thurston 1orned them Rex Helms returned after havrng transferred rn the srxth grade Wrth two new members Doyle Evans and Terry Borgman the semor class had a total of twenty erght members and agaln elected Mrs Shumway as sponsor Some of theu acttvmes whrch were many rncluded the freshman rnmatron money makrng projects publrshrng school papers presentrng therr semor play PAINT THE TOWN PINK and edrung an annual Agarn durrng basketball season they sold cokes candy and rce cream at the games Durrng the year they looked forward to the tumor semor trrp tn the sprlng and of course graduatton tn May And so twelve years later twenty erght sentors marched trrumphantly through the doors of thrs tnstrtutton of learnrng whtch drd grve them the knowl edge and fortttude to face the world As of May 1958 thls case ts closed G., ELCDSSUI UD mCmLVIlI . . , . ,t On August 30, 1957, they enrolled as seniors at Mt, Comfort High School. C3 ass jfsfor dum BOING durn dulll Dum This IS the school Mt Comfort I was born here I am a case history the history of the class of 1958 I am here to give you the facts bare uncensored the unbiased truth I began 1n September 1946 when fourteen members of the graduating class of 1958 marched bravely through the doors of this institution of learning which was to give them the knowledge and fortitude to face the world Their training began in the first grade The recipients being Barbara Borgman Terry Borgman David Cochard Richard Collins Dale Crock David DeVault Billy Giles Claudia Haines Sandra Kuhn Raymond Merlau Shirley Sparks Susann Steele Judy True and Linda Woodward who were patiently guided by Mrs Lock wood In the second grade they were further guided by Miss Welling Jimmy Collins was added to their roll in this grade Their class was divided between Miss Welling and Mrs Roberts fnee Wardenj durlng the th1rd grade At this time Linda Buchfink Tom Scotten Ronald Sparks and Rex Helms Joined their class In the fourth grade they were introduced to outer space through their first year of science Their astrologer was Mrs Roberts Qnee Wardenj who showed them plenty of stars The fifth grade was divided between Mr Cones and Mr Banks Jay Kleine joined them this year The class was reunited once again in the sixth grade under Mr Banks In the seventh and eighth grades they became ardent basketball fars. During the seventh grade they were runners-up in the County Basketball Tourney. They came back in the eighth grade to become County Champs by defeating Brandywine in an overtime by one point. In the seventh grade they were joined by Lois Atherton and in the eighth grade by Susie Whitmer and Byron Miles. Cho We the Semor Class of 1958 realizlng that we have nearly completed this phase of our lives and still being in reasonably sound mind and body do hereby declare this to be our last will and testament I Lois Ann Atherton will my talent to anyone who can play the drum and my ability to get out of typing to anyone who has the technique I Barbara Jean Borgman will my ability to keep everyone awake at slumber parties to my sister Janet and my ability to get along with Buzz to Sharon I Terry Dale Borgman will my ability to sleep through Mr Ogle s classes to Roy Abel and my ability to get out of study halls to Glenn Cunningham I Linda Irene Buchfrnk will my baggy majorette tights to anyone who can fill them and my lane for parking to anyone who can afford the admission I Lmda Lou Caldwell will my ability to make plans to Linda Burns and my ability to study to Patty McCarty I Charles David Cochard will my ability to teach government to Mr Ogle fabsolutely anything should helpj and to Mrs Shumway I will my ability to take the steps three at a time I Richard Morris Collins will my little address book of Maxwell to any square who Wants it and my skating blisters to Noble Cox I Mary Lou Colston, will my red hair and black eyebrows to anyone who likes the combination and my passing grades to my brother Johnny fl-le may need themj I Glenn Dale Crock will whatever Ihave if I have anything to whoever needs whatever I have and can do anything with whatever this thing is I David Allen DeVault will my ability to be ln conditlon during basketball season to anyone who thinks I was and my fan clubs to any idiot who can afford them I Doyle Wayne Evans will my ability to loaf tn shop to Jerry Hopkins with the hope that he has better luck with it I William Joseph Giles will my ability to sleep m Mr Ogle s study hall to some poor soul who can get away with it better than I can I Claudia June Haines will my Henry J to anyone who thinks he can have as many wrecks as I have and can sttll keep it going If I, James Robert Collins, will my ability to get along with the girls to Jon Brown:
