Slide! Bathers, Slide! BASEBALL Memorial Stadium was the site of most of the lVl.C.l'l.S. baseball team's practice sessions and games. Reviewing old techniques and learning new ones started Coach George Wiggiiis' team through another season of fly balls, homeruns, stolen bases and lots of hard work. The bases, infield and outfield positions were filled with an enthusiastic team with the determination to tag: the opponent out at the first possible chance. Baseball language of hits and runs. squeeze plays and errors never ceased until the umpire had called the last strike. Rick Hovcy tpitcht-rl burns onc 21- Crnss the platc. Speed, Skill, Points Win TRACK Putting his team through their paces coach David lVlcE.vers started the lVl.C.l-l.S. l958 track season off with conditioning exercises. Each boy went out for the events hest suited to his abilities and desires. By diligently practicing, the entire team showed enthusiasm for the spring sport and entered each meet with the desire to win. Events like the mile and the 440 took stamina and endurance while strength was the outstanding factor in the shot put. Co-ordination was necessary for the pole vault and hurdles and the dashes required speed. Each boy in each event was only a small part of each meet, but teamed together they made the track season a memorable one for lVl.C.H.S. VVill he make it? Of course, he hasn't started to roll yet. Swo-omph! A Point For The Netters l i Y , l Steve Levine follows through on a forehand smash. TENNIS Love, advantage in and ad- vantage out were some of the words shouted back and forth over the nets of the lVl.C.l-l.S. tennis courts as members of the tennis team p ra c t i c e d foot work and tested co-ordination. After school workouts, under the coaching of Mr. Allan Olds, gave the team an opportunity to drill on various tennis funda- mentals that were used through- out the season. Whether the team travelled for away games or entertained on their home courts, they gained knowledge from many new experiences -and their teamwork and sportsmanship were rewarded.
