Building Good School Spirit ls Their lolo ln their colorful red and gray uniforms the cheerleaders, with enthusiasm and school spirit, spur the crowd on to cheer the MCHS teams to victory. The cheerleaders are made up of girls chosen from tryouts which are held at the beginning of each school year. The new girls represent the junior varsity team and the older cheerleaders represent the varsity team. They accompany the team to all away games, both football and basl-cetlaall. Leading the fans in cheers thrugh all sorts of football weather is a big part of their job of cheerlead- ing. Many hours are spent practicing and making up new cheers and the girls, under the sponsor, Miss Mary Hays, perform and very capably handle their job. l 2 lx if J, I W xr H , '. , , The cheerleaders baked a calcc and gave it to the football team to be eaten AFTER the last game. Some Aquabelles come together for a Their Grace Is Beauty AQUABELLES Lots of practice and hard work go into the Aquabelles' annual water show. Entitled T.V. Review this year's show was based around numerous T.V. programs. The girls wrote and arranged each one of the numbers presented in the program. This club may be joined by any girl, grades 9-IZ, if she can pass a test of I0 syncronized swim- ming stunts. Each year the number of new belles is determined by how many graduated the previous year. lVlrs. Robert Puchalla, the club's sponsor, and several other club members select the new members during the tryouts each fall. Total membership each year usually amounts to about 25 girls.
