To The Battling Bathers' Score HAZEL PARK 52 - MOUNT CLEMENS 51 While Mount Clemens fans held their breath the Bather five could not sink a basket in the closing seconds of the Hazel Park game to acquire victory. MOUNT CLEMENS 50 - ROSEVILLE 47 The Bathers defeated Roseville on the lVlCl'lS court in a hard fought basketball game. Breaks were with the MC team and baskets were made to determine a Bather win. FERNDALE 76 - MOUNT CLEMENS 40 Ferndale's Railsplitters led throughout the game to down the MC team. Their outstanding ball control was too much for the Bathers. EAST DETROIT 62 - MOUNT CLEMENS 30 East Detroit dribbled past the Bathers for victory, The MC team was dwarfed by the Sham- rocks and found it difficult to close in on the basket ancl score. BIRMINGHAM 63 - MOUNT CLEMENS 33 Thirty points was the difference between Birmingham and Mount Clemens. The Maples show good ball control and sank baskets which made the score in their favor. PORT HURON 47 - MOUNT CLEMENS 37 Port l-luron's basketball court was the scene of the second meeting between the Bathers and the Big Reds. A low score showed on the score board, but the MC team was unable to control the ball and make the baskets count. VARSITY TEAM, bottom row: fleft to riglitl Mr. Lockwood. coach, C. Kepus, L. JUNIOR VARSITY MOUNT CLEMENS 39-VAN DYKE 38 turned when the Bathers to beat the Abes by one The tables were traveled to Van Dyke point as they had done to us earlier in the season. Outstanding rebounding and team play credited the MC team with their second victory. FERNDALE 76 - MOUNT CLEMENS 50 Ferndale trounced the Bathers for the second time in the season. The powerful Railsplitters who were on their way to the E.lVl.l... title showed excellent ball both in offense and defense. HAZEL PARK 52 - MOUNT CLEMENS 51 The Vikings came to lVlount Clemens for a repeat performance and did just that. They defeated the Bathers by the same cliff hanging basketball and pulled out with the same concluding score. ROYAL OAK KIMBALI.. 52 - MOUNT CLEMENS 43 Mount Clemens toppled under the determined play of Kimball. The visitors aimed, let go and swish, another basket that helped decide the final score. EAST DETROIT 72 - MOUNT CLEMENS 71 An inspired MC team gave the title hoping Shamrocks a tough battle in a game that wasn't over until the final buzz of overtime sounded. The Bathers played their finest game of the season with outstanding rebounding and baskets that added to the close and exciting finish. TEAM, third row: D. Logic, C. Williams, J. Hall, J. Bassett, C. GROSSE POINTE 71 - MOUNT CLEMENS 33 Traditional first game rivals, MC and Grosse Pointe, faced each other on the Blue Devils court. Coach Robert Lockwood substituted freely, but was unable to come up with a winning combination to stop the Grosse Pointe five. ROYAL OAK KIMBALL 42 - MOUNT CLEMENS 33 Royal Oak Kimball entertained the Bathers for the second game on the schedule. They took the lead and the enthusiastic Bathers tried to rally in the third and fourth quarters but couldn't overcome Kimball's scoring. VAN DYKE 49 - MOUNT CLEMENS 48 The first game on the MC home court was four quarters of exciting and towel wringing basket- ball. The Abes and the Bathers played a see-saw game as the lead kept changing hands. A breath taking finish saw Van Dyke sink a basket in the final three seconds to squeeze past the Bathers. BIRMINGHAM 57 - MOUNT CLEMENS 48 The Birmingham Maples found the MCS home court an advantage as they toppled the Bathers hoop contingent. PORT HURON 58 - MOUNT CLEMENS 43 Port Huron Big Reds kept the ball going through the hoop during the Bathers third league game of the season. The baskets added up and Port Huron went home with a victory. jim Freemon 4201 lets go a one-hander from the short side. Steve Levine C425 gets a rebound as Dean Carpenter C241 looks on. l I8

Action Was Fast Even Though We Lost Bill XVeber C441 shoots a two-handed push shot just over the defending fingers of a Ferndale player. JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL This year's jayVee basketball team hnished their season with a seven won and nine lost record. Each game provided thrills for the fans and experience for every player on the team. The many hours of practice proved very rewarding for four members of the team, when in the middle of the season, they were promoted and became varsity players. The future opponents of MCHS had better tal-ie notice of the '57-58' ,layVee team for they never stopped when the ball bounced in the wrong direction and continued dribbling on under Coach Robert Choinere. 1 Shamrock is still in doubt. lt only looks like Steve Levine Q-123 has a good grip on the nose of East Detroit's No. 39. ln the melee the Batliers lost the hall.
