Bather Gridders Know Feeling Of Success, Jack Snioot played outstanding footballg many times he was the mainstay in the Bather line-up. His brilliant playing gained him a place on the 1957 All- County Class A team and on the All-League team. Kursteiner, GROSSE POINTE 27 - - MOUNT CLEMENS 0 ln wilting summertime temperatures our Bathers struggled against the usual opening game nervousness and used the Grosse Pointe team to uncover rough edges. MOUNT CLEMENS 24 - VAN DYKE 0 The second game of the season saw the lVl.C. gridders romp over Van Dyke. Outstand- ing line play, excellent blocking and tackling and fine school spirit credited the Bathers with their first win in Z3 games. BIRMINGHAM 13 - - MOUNT CLEMENS 12 A high-spirited lVl.C. team lost a heart- breaker to Birmingham. The inability to kick extra points and untimely penalties were the decisive factors in the one point loss. PORT HURON 24 - MOUNT CLEMENS 7 Mount Clemens was ineffectual against the Port Huron powerhouse. Despite an 80 yard touchdown run by Jack Smoot, the Big Reds dominated the scoring. G. Brda, W. Shell. End Losing Streak FERNDALE 8 - MOUNT CLEMENS 0 Rough and rugged football played an im- portant part in the Ferndale triumph over Mount Clemens. It was evident, especially as the second half progressed, that the Battling Bathers were fighting with high spirit and de- termination, but could not overcome the sec- ond quarter scoring of the Railsplitters. HAZEL PARK 19 - MOUNT CLEMENS 6 The lVl.C. gridders held their own against the championship Hazel Park team, but were unable to capture a winning score for the annu- al Homecoming game. Tom Dedenbach led the defense to hold the Vikings. MOUNT CLEMENS 21 - - EAST DETROIT 6 East Detroit was the victim in the Bathers' hrst E.lVl.L. win since the I954 grid season. The entire lVl.C. team, with desire and determi- nation, outplayed the Shamrocks to come out on top of the scoring column. MOUNT CLEMENS 20 - BERKLEY 7 A victory e n d e cl the Bathers' football season.
