1937 Qrchestra SPoNsoR: Miss LILLIAN HONICKER The Mount Carmel Township High School Orchestra under the supervision of Miss Lillian Honicker originated in 1934, lt had a membership of eighteen, consisting of 6 violins, 3 saxophones, 3 accordions, 3 slide trombones, a guitar, a piano and a drum. In May of 1935 the Orchestra presented a concert that was given for the benefit of the public. Among the arias played Navy Blue and Gold , Isle of Capri , Triumph of Peace , Stars and Stripes Forever , and Princess to the Sun were more laudable because of the difficulty of composition, The Orchestra furnished the music for all high school plays and our crown- ing joy every term is our accompaniment to Senior Commencement Exercises. As time passed our membership dwindled until in 1936 we had an enroll- ment of twelve: Piano . ....... Mae Boyle, Olga Shuptar Accordion . . William Costa, Iohn Malinoski First Violin . . . ...,..... l937 cience SPONSOR! MR. CHARLES KLILICK President ....,.. . , Iohn Shafran Vice-President . , . . . . Michael Matsko Secretary , , . , George Sarisky Purpose: To interpret current scientific phenomena in terms of simple prin- ciples of science, to illustrate common uses and applications of scientific princi- ples in everyday life. The basis of modern science is experiment together with thorough analysis of related facts, and it has been our geniune boast that the experiments conduct- ed during the club periods were successful. In addition the study of the lives of great chemists, geologists, and other scientists, proved more than beneficial. These studies inspired us to try to gain what Pasteur, Crookes, or Darwin at- tained-aa fuller and richer meaning of life.
