Thomas Kellagher The main purpose of the Etiquette and Good Manners Club is to acquaint the incoming high school pupils with the social trends of conduct and behavior. lts objective is to condition its members as young ladies and gentlemen. Under the two-semester program we learn how to set a table, how to con- verse With a newcomer. how to introduce and how to acknowledge these intro- ductions, and above all, we learn the importance of respect for our elders. Each Monday the class oflicers took charge of the meeting. Topics of inter- est dealing with the happenings abroad were placed on the table and discuss- ed. On Thursdays Mr. Burke, our sponsor, spoke to us of his travels in various places, and their possible connections with the customs and lives of the European ancestors from whom they were likely inherited.
