Varsity cheerleaders, Kathy Dagley, Ann Fuller, Debbie Talley, Mary Lou Swanson and Kathi Thomson led the Aces in victory and defeat. During the last Pep assembly of the year, the varsity cheerleaders let the starting five varsity players try their hand at playing the cheerleaders. Shortstuff Newkirk tips the ball and Thomson jumps for the possession of the ball. The final score was 20-10 in favor of the cheerleaders. Junior varsity cheerleaders, Debbie Reeves, Jo Dillard, Beth Dagley, Vesta Peter and Tonia Brown cheered many long games. Cheerleaders Recognized At Last Home Game This year at the last home basketball game the cheer- leaders were recognized and received flowers and a kiss from the players. The cheerleaders then awarded the coaches and varsity boys with an autographed basketball. During the year the cheerleader's advisor, Mrs. Epler presented the girls with flowers at their first pep assembly of the year and at the banquets. This being Mrs. Epler's first year proved to be a successful one. School spirit was high and more students attended the out-of-town games. She spent many hours helping the girls finish their work for banquets, games, and little things done for the play- ers. To add a little variety to the last pep assembly the varsity cheerleaders played the varsity players in a game of basketball. Of course with a little help from Coach Davis the girls won. This year the junior varsity cheer- leaders were very busy attending all the freshman and sophomore games. And as Mrs. Epler put it, 'fAnd them's a lot of ball games!', Also this year they had substitute cheerleaders to fill in when one of the girls couldn,t make it. Maria Dunkel served as alternate for varsity and Jan Bridges was the junior varsity alternate. .W.-'mtv' skill'- r V-ww,aea1tmi41fia.+w:.-.ewavjff-wwamvlffsfvieef'fe ' n- -
